Studying can be a lot of fun if you make choices that fit your learning style and personality.  Here is a list of ideas that may help parents and students throughout the school year.  Feel free to add your own ideas to this list!

  • Reread notes
  • Make flashcards
  • Make up a self-test
  • Make up a game
  • Write a song or poem
  • Outline or highlight notes
  • Act it out
  • Reread your textbook
  • Ask for extra work
  • Use graded test to study from (correct mistakes)
  • Fix mistakes on your graded homework assignments
  • Write facts over and over again to help you remember them
  • Tape record it – say notes out loud and play it back
  • Draw pictures to help you remember ideas
  • Make memory tricks to help you remember things
  • Practice vocabulary by webbing or making flashcards
  • Find practice activities on the internet
  • Watch related educational television shows

  • “Chunk” studying to rest without stress – break it up into smaller pieces and study a small amount until you know it well
  • Make humorous connections to help you remember
  • Turn your notes into double column notes

  • Use your computer internet sites list to practice math skills
  • Study with the teacher at flex
  • Do your homework daily so you practice the most important skills

  • Study EVERY DAY for a few minutes instead of waiting until right before a test or project deadline
