Students in Grade 8 will be focusing on communication through the creation of works of Art. They will be introduced to a Design Process which they will use to create unique artworks that convey a message, tell a story and/or evoke an emotional response. They will have used the Art Elements & Principles to create artworks prior to Grade 8, so that this year will provide an opportunity to continue their explorations with an emphasis on communication.

8^thgrade students will be introduced to Graphic Design throughout History with an emphasis on the twentieth century, current trends and media exploration in the creation of Art. Creating themes and recognizing connections within the classroom and with other contemporary artists/students will be emphasized. This is the beginning of making a personal statement using art as the venue for communication.
