7th grade Life Science encompasses a collection of scientific inquiry skills along with labs, activities, technology projects and cross-curricular assignments. Students will be begin with an introduction to living things and continue to expand upon that topic throughout the year. Focus will be directed to classifications of living things as well as the different organisms themselves; including seed and seedless plants, the invertebrates, fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals. A brief overview of the atom and the Periodic Table of Elements, as well as the metric system will also be integrated into 7th grade Life Science.
All lessons meet or exceed the PA Science and Technology standards for 7th grade science. The scientific inquiry methods used will challenge students to begin to foster scientific literacy and begin to understand basic scientific processes. Student will increase their knowledge of new and advanced computer platforms for several scientific technological projects and presentations. Hands-on activities and laboratory sessions will further improve students’ analytical skills and develop higher-level thinking skills to prepare them for future science courses in high school.
