Donegal High School is classified as a rural school district. However, much of the agricultural lands surrounding the school and the district are being developed into homes, thus changing the heterogeneous nature of the demographics of the school and district-at-large.

The Donegal High School has a myriad of academic, extra-curricular and support programs for students. It clearly is a school that is proud of its tradition of providing a well-rounded, quality education to students. As far as the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment evaluations, the district and the high school have been consistently well-performing when compared to both county-wide and state-wide performance.
