Welcome to Donegal School District's STRUCTURE Program!

Alternative Education (STRUCTURE)-grades 7-12

The district operates an alternative education program for disruptive youth.  State approved programming permits 20 – 24 students in this program with 2 teachers, 1 paraprofessional, a part – time job trainer, and psychological services.  Students typically attend this program when all interventions have been unsuccessful in the school.  Prior to referral the student must have had interventions in place which must include behavioral plans with progress monitoring, truancy plans (TEP), referrals to Student Assistance Programs (SAP), etc.  Only students who present with chronic “at risk” behaviors, despite interventions may attend.  These behaviors are limited to:  student poses a threat to the safety and welfare of others (weapons),  student exhibits violent or threatening behavior, student significantly interferes with the learning/educational  process (conduct warranting suspension or expulsion), student consistently disregards/violates school authority/policy/rules,  student uses controlled substances on school property or during school-related activities,  student commits criminal acts on school property, habitual truancy and adjudicated students with school involvement/placement referral  for alternative education.  Alternative education is funded via the district general budget.
