Environmental Awareness Club

Purpose: To recycle products in order to protect the environment
Activities: Empting the recycling bins in the classrooms during homeroom

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)

Teacher Contact: Mrs. Gorlaski
Purpose: To enhance business-related skills
Activities: Members participate in fundraising for March of Dimes as well as competitions in business categories

Purpose: To provide services for the community.
Activities: Promote community involvement.


Model United Nations

Teacher Contact: Mr. Timothy Bradley
Purpose: To discuss informational issues and participate in the United Nations Simulation.
Activities: Learning formulations and competition.

Prayer Group

Student Contact:
Purpose: To come together and pray for the students, the school, and the community
Activities: Meets every Wednesday morning at 7:00 a.m. in the band/chorus room, also plans 5th quarters, and other events

Performing/Theater Arts

Teacher Contact: Ms. Newman & Mr. Fuhrman
Purpose: To support productions for the fall play and the spring musical at DHS, helps with fundraising and publicity, meets on an as-needed basis
Activities: Can learn: stage make-up, lighting, costuming and set building, also goes on field trips to NYC and local theatrical productions

Ski Club

Purpose: To provide students with the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of alpine skiing and snow boarding

Clubs With Requirements

Math Honor Society

Teacher Contact:  Mrs. Kline
Requirements: Students must have a 3.5 GPA overall and 3.5 GPA in mathematics
Purpose: To recognize students who have achieved higher level math abilities and to provide a tutoring service in mathematics
Activities: Tutor other students and monthly meetings

National Honor Society

Teacher Contact: Mrs. Shaffer
Requirements: Students must have a minimum GPA of 4.0 by their first semester of their junior year. They must also demonstrate good character, leadership abilities, and service. Students in NHS must complete an application after meeting the above criteria.
Purpose: To recognize academic achievement and good character in students while promoting leadership and service to the school and community
Activities: Assist with blood drives, sell daffodils for the American Cancer Society, and other school and community activities.

Tri-M (Modern Music Masters)

Teacher Contact: Mr. Sellers
Requirements: Students must exhibit vocal and musical talent and be involved in several different music related activities and be either a junior or a senior
Purpose: To recognize talented vocal and music students that make an extra effort to participate musically

Student Council

Teacher Contact: Mrs. Parkinson
Requirements: Students must sign up and be elected by their class peers
Purpose: To represent the student body. Student Council acts as a link between the student body and the teachers and the administration
Activities: Plans the powder puff game, the Christmas and Valentine's dances, as well as other school activities

Varsity Club

Purpose: To promote interscholastic athletics
Activities: Work concession stands, community service, ex: food drive
